GWAS Analysis of Young Adult Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin Lymphoma

چکیده
Rationale General Background NSHL is the most common subtype of Hodgkin lymphoma in young adults, comprising between 60-80% of the disease in this age group; it occurs equally in males and females, peaks in incidence in the early 20’s, and is associated with higher socioeconomic status and low prevalence of Epstein-Barr virus in the tumors (1,2). Although commonly classified together with the mixed cellularity subtype as “classical” Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), NSHL is now considered to be a specific etiologic entity separate from other types of HL because of its distinct pathology and epidemiology (3). Since age (young adult, roughly 10-49 years at diagnosis), histology (nodular sclerosis) and EBV tumor status (EBV negative) are correlated, some studies have used only one of these variables to represent the general young adult nodular sclerosis EBV negative subtype, which is believed to be a distinct entity (4).

IL-6 levels and genotype are associated with risk of young adult Hodgkin lymphoma.
Identical twins of young adult Hodgkin lymphoma case subjects are much more likely to develop the disease compared with fraternal twins of case subjects, suggesting a genetic determinant. Interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels are increased in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma and are correlated with a poor prognosis. We hypothesized that a heritable abnormality in IL-6 regulation may predispose to young adu...

Introduction: This study is aimed to assess the prevalence and characteristics of head and neck lymphoma in a defined group of an Iranian population. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, 126,450 biopsy reports from two referral Pathology Departments, (Tehran, the capital of Iran) were evaluated. In cases with head and neck lymphoma, other variables such as age, sex, specific lo...
متن کاملPerinatal and family risk factors for Hodgkin lymphoma in childhood through young adulthood.
The incidence of Hodgkin lymphoma has increased among adolescents and young adults in recent decades, but the relevant risk factors in early life are still unknown. A national cohort study was conducted of 3,571,574 individuals born in Sweden in 1973-2008 and followed up for Hodgkin lymphoma incidence through 2009, to examine perinatal and family risk factors for Hodgkin lymphoma in childhood t...
متن کاملFamilial clustering of Hodgkin lymphoma and multiple sclerosis.
BACKGROUND Epidemiologic similarities between Hodgkin lymphoma in young adults (i.e., between 15 and 44 years old) and multiple sclerosis have led to the suggestion that these diseases may have related etiologies. Previous investigations have not supported this hypothesis, but the negative results could have been caused by methodologic problems. We therefore assessed the risk of developing Hodg...
